Low self confidence?
I’ve been writing a series of inspiring articles for the New Nation newspaper. This week’s is on ’self confidence’ which is probably the most common theme that I discover in people. So much so that I’ve produced a ‘Self Confidence’ audio talk on the topic which is available in the books, cds and mp3s page.
Perhaps you feel you lack self confidence. But what do you know about ’self’ and ‘confidence’. You - like many people who approach me - may hold a view of themself which is wholly inacurate.
When you speak of ‘yourself’ you may simply be speaking of a set of ideas given to you supported only by memories which themselves are tainted by ideas you’ve been given - which have shaped your personality. When you speak of yourself ’self’ you may speak of your job, relationships, location, your looks. These are all transient - subject to change. Therefore they are not ‘your self’. If this topic interests you then do get in touch.
As for confidence, it is the stuff of the mind. It is really a game of memory and application. Confidence is built be recalling your accomplishments and working from your strengths. It disolves when you overlook your skills and strenghts. There is also of course a link to actually developing skills through planning, preparation, visualisation, practice and review. Again my Self Confidence audio talk will help you if you seek to build these skills.
Beyond confidence is wisdom… which understands that certainty (which confidence craves) is an illusion.
Do feel free to send me your comments and thoughts. Best wishes, Rasheed
