Welcome to latest issue and episode of Catch the Coach! the newsletter for fulfilment and meaningful progress.

I’ve dedicated this whole issue to compassion. During my life journey and my career as a coach I have realised and continually learned that compassion is one of the most important ingredients to a happy, joyful, peaceful and fulfilled life.

The discovery and practice of compassion transform and enrich your life and those of those around you.

In this issue and episode, I highlight 3 aspects / stages of compassion:

  • The roots of compassion
  • Compassion in all direction
  • The Fruit of compassion

If you can then I recommend that you take a few minutes to watch the version below so that you get the full richness from this episode.

Tip for the Month – Pause and breathe

I have a saying “When you’re stuck try compassion and love”.

Life can be busy, challenging and sometimes and overwhelming. When you are having tough moment just pause and breathe … for a moment for a minute. This will help you re-centre, reconnect and reconsider.

But don’t just pause and breathe in tough moments, moment to moment and day to day so that you appreciate everything and everyone

The Roots of Compassion

Compassion is rooted in awareness, acceptance and gratitude… it has a way of bringing about an empathy, kindness and love which deep and profound.

Compassion in all directions

Compassion is actually a practice – every moment and every challenge are an invitation for us to go back to compassion, to start with compassion …and to extend our compassion.

  • Yourself: compassion must begin within by being kind and compassionate to yourself
  • Your life circle of family, friends and colleagues: appreciate them, realise that they are on their own unique life journey, use every interaction as an opportunity to put compassion into action
  • Everyone else: compassion cannot end at the end of your driveway or with those you care about and work with. It has to go further than that. Compassion must extend in all directions. That doesn’t mean holding open every door or giving money to every cause. But it does mean wishing everyone well. It does mean looking to see who they truly and fully are beyond the projection you shine on them.

The fruit of compassion

Compassion is a tree that bears countless fruit. I have a saying that “Wisdom and compassion are like the rarest wells – the more you draw from them, the more you share, the deeper the well gets.”

Like a sprawling apple tree, the fruits are to many to count. But every day is rich with learning, every challenge brings with it deeper insight, the intuition / inner tuition gets more powerful, relationships become more harmonious.

But for this to happen compassion must become a practice.

Quote for the Month

“Compassion is even more powerful than courage. Sure, with courage you can conquer a world – but only with compassion can you heal and build it.” – Rasheed Ogunlaru
